If you'd like to go to Tribeca, go at your own risk. Of course there are restaurants and shops there, but Tribeca is mostly synonymous with expensive housing and Robert De Niro's neighborhood. Not a lot to see, except when it's time for the Tribeca Film Festival(usually every year in April).
I mean, it's just that Tribeca is generally quieter than any other New York neighborhood.
But if you'd like to venture into Tribeca, and if you have the shutterbug like I do, one cool street to visit is Staple Street (photo).
A good option for brunch is Odeon (145 W. Broadway, bet. Duane & Thomas Sts.).
A list of places to go and things to do, with a very loose price-rating and minimal description, that is to serve as future reference to myself and to friends and friends's friends (locals and tourists alike). The objective of most of my outings is to always find something: a restaurant, a bar, or even a book, that is "cheap and fabulous". Of course not a lot is cheap, or fabulous, but there's a lot of fun to be had without breaking the bank.
